MEMBER OF THE MONTH: TONI CLANCY

When selecting our Member of the Month each month the coaching team have to consider a wide variety things. Peoples consistency in training, their attitude towards their training, their community spirit and obviously their progress as an athlete. Luckily for us so many of our members tick all these boxes in a positive way, non more so than this months member of the month, Toni Clancy!

It’s no secret that Toni is a fantastic athlete. She’s regularly up their on the whiteboard with high scores (unless the workout has too much running in!!!!) and is one of our most consistent members – it’s weird if she isn’t their at 7.30pm.

Toni is also an incredibly active member of our community, regularly reppin’ Saxon in competitions and getting involved in our social events. Toni is also one of our biggest recruiters recommending Saxon to, it would seem, pretty much everyone she knows!!!

She is also hilarious! Her banter is pretty next level and she gives as good as she gets from the coaching team. Every class she is in there is sure to be a comical moment.

As well as being funny Toni is super friendly, something we pride ourselves on at Saxon. The coaches notice strange things when we watch classes but something we always notice is that Toni talks to any and everyone like an old friend – a wonderful characteristic to have.

All in Toni is a solid athlete and a fantastic representative for Saxon! We asked Toni:

What bought you to Saxon CrossFit?

I’ve been doing CrossFit for a while and within that time I saw Saxon at comps and throw downs and thought these lot seem like a fun bunch. I also read another members blog on Saxon about a year ago now and thought these crazy lot are right up my street.

What’s the biggest change Saxon CrossFit has had on your life?

Saxon has given me my mojo back with training and more of a positive attitude physical and mentally.

What’s your favourite thing about Saxon?

I have many favourite things about Saxon. First has to be the people (members and coaches), I don’t think I’ve ever had a session where I have not laughed or joked with someone. Saxon also has awesome facilities, the equipment is well maintained and it defo has the best cake makers in Norfolk, especially that ginger cake a couple of weeks ago!

What’s your ideal workout?

Funnily enough my friends and I were joking about our ideal squad workout things such as a ladder of slut drops, crab walks, cammo rolls and toe wrestles!! Apart from that my ideal type of workout would be something barbell, Emom of a cleans complex or something like that.

Describe Saxon CrossFit in three words?

Motivational, banter, addictive.

Tell us something about you that the other members won’t know?

I was born with hip dysplasia and my parents were told I may have an inability to walk properly, which is ironic now that squats are my jam.
