Who is Saxon CrossFit for?

Ages 16-84, student, military, retiree, HR and coach. Saxon CrossFit really is for everyone!

As a CrossFit coach I often hear misconceptions about who CrossFit is really for. “I need to get fit before I try CrossFit”, “CrossFit is to hard”, “I’ve never worked out so would never be any good at CrossFit” are statements I hear all to often.

The reality is CrossFit, by design, is for anyone. At Saxon CrossFit our youngest member is 16 years of age, our oldest is in his 80’s. Our members include police officers, doctors, retirees, electricians, students and stay-at-home parents. The very nature of CrossFit means all these different people can walk into one of our coached classes and have the workout scaled to their individual needs and abilities.

The above quote, “The needs of Olympic athletes and our grandparents differ by degree not kind”¬†is one of the most powerful sentences in the fitness industry. The very idea that the fitness required by Olympic athletes, military special forces and our mums differs only by its application and not its method is an awesome thought. A champion weightlifter needs a great squat to allow them to lift phenomenal loads. A new mother needs a great squat so they engage with and pick up their children in a safe and efficient manner. Same movement, different degree. Within CrossFit we can scale the load or intensity whilst keeping the movement the same. Everyone’s overall goal, increased physical fitness, is the same, so the method should be to.

In short, whether your a pro-athlete looking to improve, a new mum wishing to shed some weight or someone just wanting to be a little bit fitter, then CrossFit is for you!
