MEMBER OF THE MONTH: ABI BRETT-WILLIAMS

So the first month of 2020 is down which means it’s time for us to announce our first member of the month for the year. Since I was off ill for the vast majority of January I relied solely on the thoughts of Coaches Sam and Els for the top pick and they both, independently, said the same name: Abi

Abi is great, if you’ve trained with her you’ll know that too. She’s fun, funny, keen to progress and super friendly. She listens to the coaches, is keen to push her boundaries and is always willing to get involved.

Abi has mixed up her training lately by getting involved in our accessory classes focusing on the olympic lifts and pushing her limits in our epic ‘Beserker’ classes, flipping tires, carrying logs and running with sanbags!

With so much progress already behind her we can’t wait to see where Abi is at in her fitness journey this time next year! Keep it up dude! (We also can’t wait for Abi to tell us how much she likes the picture we’ve used!!)

We asked Abi:

What brought you to Saxon CrossFit?

I previously went to a gym in Attleborough and I was just getting so bored doing the same thing. I’d done some CrossFit style workouts with a personal trainer before and when Tracey Mitchell said to me about doing a taster session at Saxon I thought why not? So we did and that was over 18 months ago… best fitness decision I’ve ever made.

What’s the biggest change Saxon CrossFit has had on your life?

Two things really, the first is mindset – for me it always used to be about losing weight and being obsessed with how many calories I’d burnt but now I just want to be fit and strong! The second thing is definitely the friendships I’ve made. I wouldn’t have met such lovely people if it wasn’t for Saxon CrossFit.

What’s your favourite thing about Saxon?

Being cheeky to the coaches, especially Coach Sam!! But really though, it comes down to the encouragement I get from all the coaches during workouts.

What’s your ideal workout?

There’s so many things I like from deadlifts, a barbell complex to anything overhead and plate workouts. The one thing I hate the most, as all the coaches know, is RUNNING!

Tell us something about you that the other members won’t know?

I have a huge crush on Tom Selleck! He is the epitome of a true gentleman and there is just something special about that moustache too!!
